The Tomasulo Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Kenneth Campbell MacKay Library on the Cranford, New Jersey campus of Union County College. In 1973 Mrs. Nicholas Tomasulo, an alumna of the College and patron of the arts, endowed the Gallery to memorialize her late husband, Judge Nicholas A Tomasulo. Since then, it has been an integral part of the aesthetic life of both the College and the community.
The Tomasulo Gallery is a showcase for contemporary paintings and sculptures of both established and emerging artists. Its five professional shows and one student exhibit are presented each year under the direction of artist Valeri Larko, who has served the Tomasulo as curator since 1995.
Gallery hours are from 1 to 4 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Evening hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Howard Zoubeck - Roadside
September 16 – October 30, 2010: Opening Reception Thursday September 16, 6-8 PM
“Roadside” Howard Zoubek: Solo Exhibition of photographs of unexpected beauty found along the side of the road during the artist travels.
November 12 – December 18, 2010: Opening Reception Friday November 12, 6-8 6PM.
“WHAT I SAW: Paintings from the Hermitage, Gulf Coast, Florida”. Barbara Ellmann: Solo Exhibition of paintings that are the result of a six-week artist retreat she was awarded in 2010. Responding to landscape, the crystal clear light, and the dramatic shifts of weather at this idyllic spot on the Gulf Coast, the artist translated those sensations of place and her reactions to it through her abstract vocabulary of color, line, and shape.
January 21- February 24, 2011: Opening Reception Friday January 21, 6-8 PM. "Timely Matters: an Exhibition of Photographic Images" Solo exhibition of UCC Prof. Robert Yoskowitz’s photo montages.
March 11 - April 16, 2011: Opening Reception Friday March 11, 6-8 PM. "Propositions in Paper" Joan Grubin: Solo exhibition in which the artist will animate the gallery space with an installation that draws on her signature use of fluorescent paint to create work in paper that is mysterious, playful, and optically disorienting.
April 25 - May 5, 2011: Architecture Class Show run by Dori Vicente
May 13 - June 30, 2011: Opening Reception Friday May 13, 6-8 PM. Joe Chirchirillo: “Sculpture Systems”, Solo exhibition of interactive, kinetic nature machines.
