Grants are sources of financial assistance that do not have to be repaid. Grants are usually awarded based on financial need.
Federal Pell Grant
Students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree may be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant. The maximum Federal Pell Grant for the 2014-2015 Academic Year (AY) is $5,730 depending on the student’s financial need. This grant may be adjusted based on changes in the number of credits that a student registers for.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
This grant is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Pell Grant recipients with the highest need will be considered first. Just like Pell Grants, the SEOG does not have to be repaid. Most awards range from $100-$300.
Governor's Urban Scholarship Program
The Governor’s Urban Scholarship Program provides a merit award to students in 14 designated high-need communities in New Jersey.
Annual awards up to $1,000 are available for qualified students. The scholarship is renewable annually based upon continued eligibility and available funding.
-Rank within the top five (5.0) percent of their class and have at least a 3.0 GPA at the end of their junior year of high school.
-Reside in one of the designated high-need communities listed below:
Tuition Aid Grant (TAG)
TAG is awarded based on financial need and the award amount is determined by the New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA). The maximum TAG award is over $2200 annually and does not need to be repaid. This grant may be adjusted based on changes in the number of credits that a student registers for.
